Day 38

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Today started out like the previous two.  The girls were up and ready to go before I was.  Melinda was sleeping in today since I had to go straight to my doctors appointment.  I know that she likes to take this time to visit with family and friends in Hungary, so I think it worked out for both of us.

After my appointment was over, I came home and Melinda and I soon left for a quick trip to Wal-Mart.  I needed to pick up a few things before it was time to get the girls from basketball practice.  Normally, a 'quick' trip to Wal-Mart ends up taking over an hour, so we barely had enough time to make it home, unpack the groceries, and make it back to the school before their practice was over.  Melinda stayed home to get lunch started and the girls couldn't be happier.  They are starving when they're done with practice!

After lunch, we had just a few minutes before we had to leave for piano practice.  Melinda went with us and ended up having a great time.  The piano teachers cat was inside the house and ready to play.  Melinda and Abigail played with Biscuit the cat during Ally's practice time and even got him to fall asleep towards the end.

When we arrived home, Robert was already dressed and ready to go to workout.  I had blood work done at my appointment this morning and was not feeling up to enduring an hour long workout in the humid weather, so I stayed home.

Melinda had mentioned a rice dish this morning and bought the needed ingredients today at Wal-Mart.  She and Abigail took over the kitchen while Robert was gone and made this delicious dish.  I don't remember the name, but it is a sort of rice cake that you drizzle chocolate syrup on.  YUMM-O!!!!  I invited my mom and dad over to sample some and they loved it, too!  The best part is that the girls loved it.  It is so amazing to have Melinda here to share her love of cooking with us and I am just so thrilled that my girls have the opportunity to sample all of these amazing dishes.

Before going into the oven....

My mom invited Melinda to go walking with her tomorrow morning, so she headed to bed early tonight.  She was a little scared when my mom first invited her because she knows that my mom normally walks between six and nine miles each day.  When we converted this to kilometers, Melinda was shocked.  At first, she said no, that she wasn't an athlete who could walk six to nine miles.  I told her that she would probably only walk two to three miles tomorrow and use it as more of a sight seeing tour of White Rock Lake.  I'm sure Melinda will have lots of pictures to share on her blog tomorrow.  Until then.....
The final product...yes, covered in chocolate syrup
