Day 32

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Yippee!!!  Today is 7-11!!!!  Free slurpee's at 7-11!!!  It was the first thing on our minds when we woke up this morning.

The girls had a dentist appointment this morning, so we were up and getting ready early.  Once we were done with the appointment, we headed to 7-11 for our free slurpee, only to turn around for home because they weren't giving them away until 11:00 a.m.  When we got back home, Robert got busy working while the girls started watching t.v. and I headed outside to begin emptying the filing cabinet that I sold on the Forney Treasure Exchange.  Melinda came outside to help me and we quickly got it emptied out and ready for pick up.  Robert came out just as we were finishing, and he and I began taking more pictures of things to sell.  By the time we posted several things, it was time to go inside and begin making lunch.

Today, on our thermometer in Forney, TX, the temperature outside in the shade was about 112 degrees Fahrenheit....YAH, IT'S HOT!!!  Melinda was amazed at how hot it was.  She said that it NEVER gets this hot in Hungary.  She was checking the weather on her phone and it said that there was a chance of showers in the afternoon.  We talked about how chilly the water was last week while at Great Wolf Lodge and how we wished we were there this week instead.  Oh, how your perspective can change so quickly.  We talked about how the clouds were rolling in and how it was now 'partly cloudy'.  Robert was telling both of us that in Seattle, the weather people describe it as 'partly sunny'.  It's all in your perspective, people!

After we finished lunch, the girls headed to 7-11 to get our free slurpee while Robert got on a conference call.  We could see how crowded the parking lot was from the bridge over the highway.  We lucked out and got a spot right up front and were in the store in no time.  The line was all the way to the door!!!  We waited in line for our free 11 ounce slurpee and walked back to the car with smiles on our faces.
The line to get our free slurpee.
Yah!  We got our slurpee!

We got back home and I went outside to get started on my project...finally.  I got a second coat of red paint on everything, primed the shelves that we're going to add to the piece, and the coffee table from mom and dads house that she gave me.  Mom came over to see how it was going and gave me a few ideas for some future projects.
Final coat of red paint on the drawers and cabinet doors.
The cabinet is finished inside and out.
The coffee table has been primed and will be
painted tomorrow.

All of a sudden, it started raining...YA!!!  It has been so hot and dry here the past few weeks, so the rain was a very welcome visitor today.  It was so hot that the rain water falling from the sky was like a warm shower....ah!  It caused the temperature to drop about 10 degrees!!!

While I was working on my project, Melinda and Ally started playing basketball.  Ally taught her the game 'horse' and they played for quite some time.  Melinda has told us that she is not much of an athlete and it was nice to see her out there playing.  Ally went inside and Melinda kept playing for a little while, working on her shot from different angles.  It got really humid due to the rain, so Melinda headed inside to cool off before we  went out for dinner.
Here is Melinda making a basket during their game of 'pig'.

I finished what I was working on and headed inside to get cleaned up for dinner.  Since it was so hot, we decided to go out for dinner so that we didn't have to eat in an extremely hot house.  When the temperature gets near or over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the inside temperature in our kitchen can get up to 85 degrees.  On these days, we usually will eat a sandwich or go out for dinner.  We went to Pizza Hut and then went for snow cones afterwards.

When we got home, Robert, Melinda and I sat in the dining room visiting.  They discussed the various Kindles and which would be the best buy for Melinda while I began my blog.  We talked about 'who' the wealthy people are in Hungary versus in the United States.  In the U.S., the wealthy are typically thought of as the doctors, lawyers, and business men.  In Hungary, the doctors are not at all wealthy.  She said that the brokers, business men, and bankers.
