Day 36

Monday, July 15, 2013,

Today is the beginning of a very busy time for us.

The girls started basketball camp at the high school, so I had them up early with a list of things to do in order to leave the house on time.  By the time I woke up, they were already at the table having breakfast.  Melinda was up shortly after.  Robert had breakfast with us before leaving for work, and we left shortly after.

It was still raining, so we hurried into the high school and got the girls signed in.  Melinda was in awe of the size of the gymnasium and how nice it was.  I explained to her that this was their competition gym and basketball and volleyball games were held here.  There are permanent seats plus additional slide out bleachers that offer more seating.  Behind these seats, there are very small warm-up courts for the players to stay loose during half-time.  We stayed for a few minutes, watching the girls practicing their moves and taking shots.  Abigail was directed to one half of the court where the younger girls were playing and Ally went to the other.  We stood in the middle watching both sides.  I was hoping that the coaches would call the group to the center and go over some things before we left, but it didn't look like they were going to so we went ahead and left.
Ally is standing next to the girl wearing black just beyond
the three point arch
Abigail is on the far side, white uniform, leaning to her right

On the way home, I noticed the outside temperature listed on my dashboard....OMG!!!!  It's July in Texas, people!  This never happens!!!
Yes, that's right....66 degrees Fahrenheit!!!
Melinda and I have both been so devastated by the sudden death of Cory Monteith who plays Fin on the Fox t.v. show, Glee.  We are both big fans of the show and are in such a state of disbelief over his untimely passing.  When we arrived at home, we settled into to the living room to squeeze in as many Glee episodes as we could before it was time to pick up the girls from practice.  I don't get to watch the show too often, so it was really nice getting to watch.

We left the house to pick up the girls from practice and picked something up for lunch.  Abigail has been after us about getting McDonald's, so I finally caved and whipped through the drive-thru.  Once we were home and fed, everyone started pitching in to clean up the house.  Melinda tackled the vacuuming, Ally and I took the kitchen, and Abigail was wild card items.  I have to come up with special tasks for my small fry....she picks up the dog toys, restocks the toilet paper, empties trash cans, etc.  Basically, anything that is 3 feet and under.

When we were at a stopping point, the girls took turns practicing piano while we I started preparing our living room to accept the new t.v. cabinet.  The current unit we have is made up of four pieces - a main unit, two side cabinets and a top piece that connects it all.  Right now, each of the four pieces are in separate rooms in the house, so I'm trying to get them cleaned out and moved to the garage for proper photography for posting to the treasure exchange to sell.

Robert came home from work about an hour before we had to leave for workout.  He helped me clean out the cabinet in our bedroom and then we left for the trainers house.  After an extremely tough workout, we headed home for dinner.

'The Life of Pi' was waiting for us in the mailbox, so we took our dinner into the living room to watch the movie.  Oh, my goodness, was it amazing!  We laughed, cried, and laughed some more.  We're sending it back tomorrow only because we want to see the next movie just as badly, but I really want to watch this one again.  Definitely going to be one that I'd like to purchase.

Once the girls were in bed, we all returned to our usual spots post-children's bedtime.  Melinda had to take care of some things while I started writing my blog.  I can't believe that watching Glee all morning, cleaning the house and working out in the afternoon, and watching a movie tonight turned into such a long blog post.  Gosh....just wait until we take our road trip in a few weeks!
