Day 9

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

After the multi-city adventure yesterday, we decided to stay home and relax today.

Everyone slept late and/or hid out in their rooms until around 9 a.m.  We were all gathered in the kitchen, eating breakfast and putting away dishes, when Melinda offered to make Hungarian pancakes.  Yes!!!  She started working on the pancakes while the girls watched closely beside her and I got started on our laundry.  The girls have really enjoyed all of the new treats that Melinda has been making us.  I really enjoy that they have the opportunity to sample authentic foods from other countries while in the comfort of their own home.  You can't beat that!

Once it is done, you can add any type of filling you'd like.
We had Hershey's chocolate syrup on hand.

The finished product: Hungarian Pancakes...YUMM-O!!!!

Abigail, covered in chocolate syrup, and asking for more.
This is Abigail after having her second Hungarian pancake. They both absolutely loved them!!  While Melinda was cooking, she decided to Skype with her mom, stepdad, and little sister. I came in and used my newly learned Hungarian phrases...I think they were very impressed! Lol. They are also practicing their English since Melinda is here with us and they are getting much better, too.

Once all the pancake eating was done, everyone retreated to their rooms for more relaxation time.  Melinda has been working on post cards she bought at the Stock Yards yesterday.  She has 13 to mail back to Hungary and still needs a few more.

After lunch, I began getting some things together for a garage sale that we are having on Friday.  I was explaining to Melinda what a garage sale is and she is very intregued by us selling things from our homes.  I guess it is a little strange if you think about it.  I told her the best part is going to a garage sale and seeing or finding something that you've always been on the lookout for and it's only $1!  Just wait until we take her to Canton!!!

We decided to get out of the house for a little bit in order to get Melinda the post card stamps she needed.  Then, we headed back to Wal-Mart to get a few things before grabbing dinner at Chick-fil-A.  I found Oz-The Great and Powerful on blue-ray and digital, so we made it a dinner and a movie night.  What an awesome movie!

Melinda and I have been joking about our daily blog writing.  She says that she has the hardest time finding things to say and mostly just posts pictures.  I, on the other had, can write forever about absoluetly nothing and end up having to delete most of what I write because it is just so completely boring.  (trust me, you'll thank me later!)  It would really be nice if I had a laptop to write on so that we could both be at the table together, writing our blogs and laughing about the days events.  Oh, well...here I sit at the computer table just a few feet away from the table where she sits and writes hers.  A girl can hope, right?  ;0)

  1. Hi Sarah,
Yard sales are getting to spread also in Hungary, even though it is not yet very common. As people buy more and more stuff also here, and the room is limited to store - at some point many people decide to get rid of those they don't need. From time to time I can see garage sales. My father - Melinda's Grandpa - could make one as his garage is full of old things he wouldn't need anymore, but still keeps them - "maybe it's will be useful sometimes...". :)
Regarding your blog, I really enjoy reading it!

  2. Gabor,
I tend to 'hoard' things, not wanting to get rid of them just in case I might need them one day. Then I go through phases of 'I can't stand all this junk!' and it gets moved out to the yard sale.
