Day 12

Friday, June 21, 2013

(So, Friday was a really busy day and I was so extremly tired that I wasn't able to write about Friday on Friday night.  Here it is, being written on Saturday, before I write about Saturday.)

The day started out very early.  I was up by 5:30 to get ready for the garage sale at my friends house.  I left the house and headed to the donut shop to pick up breakfast for everyone.  Then, I headed over to the cities parks and recreation office to purchase tickets for a concert next Saturday.  They were offering a discount for teachers of the city plus we were entered into a drawing for backstage passes as well.  The singer is Roger Creager and he is a Texas country singer who just so happened to graduate from Texas A&M University.  Whoop!

I arrived at my friends and there were already lots of people there shopping.  I got settled and began helping.  We had set up a tent so that we didn't have to sit in the sun all day, which really helped out a lot.  By 11:00 a.m., there were not too many people stopping to shop.  We did have one very special visitor around that time.  My friend walked down the driveway to check on some things and we saw her jump up and squeal.  "Yikes!"  There was a large bullfrog that had jumped out of her drainage ditch and onto the driveway just as she was walking by.  He got very confused and started jumping towards the house!  Thankfully, there was a nice man there that volunteered to pick up the frog and return him to his watering hole.  Poor guy was getting all dried out in the hot sun!  We closed up the garage sale around noon and I headed home.

Meanwhile, Melinda, Ally, and Abby went to my moms house to work on a craft project.  My mom recently purchased a Cricuit machine that will cut out lots of different designs and letters to create cards and many other projects.  My girls were anxious to play with this new machine, so mom let them design their own cards.  They each came home with a few cards that they made and they each did a really good job.

I only had a short time to rest before it was off the the trainers house once I had finished my lunch.  After our workout, we headed home to get ready for a birthday party.  Ally's best friend was celebrating her 11th birthday with a swimming party at her house.  We arrived and started by watching a very popular t.v. show called Happy Days.  The most notable characters are the Fonz, Joanie, and Chachi.  Melinda had never seen this show before, so I was filling her in on the basics.  The Fonz was famous for his black leather jacket, motorcycle, and quotes such as '(H)eyyyyyyy' and 'Whoa!'.  Joanie and Chachi were that all-American couple which embodied young love in the hearts of many Americans during that time.

Once the party got started, Melinda and I helped the birthday girls' momma by putting the final touches on her cookie cake.  We also helped with serving the girls their dinner and cake and then with their craft project.  I was so happy that Melinda got to see a childrens birthday party while she was here.  It was a pretty typical party for girls in our town and Melinda seemed to have a good time.

Melinda, Abigail, and I left the party around 9 p.m. so that Abigail could get to bed and Ally stayed for the slumber party.  The next morning, she told me that they went swimming after we left and then watched a movie until they finally fell asleep.  Ally was completely exhausted!  Must have been a really good party!!!

Once we got home and got Abigail situated on the couch, Melinda, Robert, and I stayed up and watched the beginning of The Hunger Games.  Abigail was trying to fall sleep on the couch, but I know she was 'sleeping' a.k.a also watching The Hunger Games.  Well, at least it's summer time and she didn't have to be up early the next morning.
