Today was a very busy day. We were up really early (for summertime, that is) in order to get ready for Ally and Abby's piano performance. They participated in the Texas Music Teachers Association ensemble performance for the Mesquite area group. They were all dressed as Beethoven in order to go along with their song, Beethoven's Boogie. Dress rehearsal began at 7:45 a.m. at a hotel near the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport, so we had to leave the house by 7:00 a.m. We were all very tired from the swimming and late night movie the night before, so it was a very quiet car ride to the hotel.
Once practice was over, we looked through the exhibition hall for awhile. Melinda noticed several music books and sheet music composed by Hungarian composers. Her face brightens up at the slightest sign of 'home' and I'm reminded of how crazy this must all be for her. She plays the flute at home and even brought it with her to play while she's here. We have a flute and I'm excited to see if she can get Ally interested in playing it. We are a family of music lovers!!!
We ended up at Champs in Irving for lunch. Melinda wanted to broaden her horizons and decided on a cheeseburger with coleslaw and onion rings on it. Again...SHE LOVED IT! I'm so glad that she's willing to try new things. I can't even imagine going to a different country and having to decide on what to eat.
After lunch, we headed back to the hotel for the performance. All of the groups did an amazing job! My mom, dad, and aunt made it to the performance as well. As soon as it was over, we headed all the way to Rockwall for Abigail's indoor game at the RISE. She played an amazing game and scored 5 of the teams 9 goals!
Since we were over there, we decided to head over to the Rowlett side of the Harbor and have dinner at Primo's. Since she had such a large lunch, Melinda was not very hungry and did not try the 'Tex-Mex'. She seemed very interested in what we all ordered, so we'll definitely have to take her to another Mexican restaurant soon. In the parking lot outside Primo's, there was a small car show taking place. We strolled through the cars and trucks and Melinda took lots of pictures of all the different vehicles.
Back at home, Melinda helped clean up the kitchen while I tidied up with rest of the house. She is such a sweet girl! Always willing to help out and asking what she can do to help. Again, I hope that she has a positive influence on my girls! As I sit and write my blog at the computer, Melinda sits and writes hers at the kitchen table. I hope she finds mine just as interesting as I find hers!!!
Great blog, very interesting to read both side of the story!
