We started off the day just relaxing and getting to know one another. Melinda was still tired from being up for so long, plus the jet-lag doesn't help much. As we sat in the kitchen, Abigail and I introduced her to the greatness that is Texas A&M. She brought her nursury rhyme book based on A&M and we told her just a little bit about our beloved school. We told Melinda that a trip to visit the school is in her near future.
We were in dire need of food, so off to Wal-Mart we went. Melinda was amazed at how big the store was and how many different things were sold there. We loaded up on previsions for the week, plus a few extras, then headed home to make lunch. I was a little concerned about the 'American' food that she had suddenly been thrust into eating, so I started off with an easy meal of grilled chicken, brown rice, and green beans. (I am NOT a cook by any means!) She seemed to like it.
After lunch, we Skyped with her mother and step-father for a few minutes. Now, it was 3:30 p.m. here, which meant it was 11:30 p.m. in Hungary!!! They were both very grateful and seemed happy to 'see' her. Later that afternoon, we headed to the trainers for workout then picked up Chick-fil-A for dinner. She really liked Chick-fil-A!!!
That evening, Robert and the girls taught Melinda how to play Mancala. They had such a good time laughing and playing before bedtime.
After the girls went to bed, Robert and I visited with her about what she thought about America so far. For the most part, she was amazed at how big everything was and how friendly everyone was. I was very glad to hear that she found 'us' to be so friendly. I am so excited to have Melinda here with us for the summer!!!
